I love being online. I’ve done it for ages. I first learned how to make websites in 1999 and, shortly after, I uploaded one onto the internet for the world to see. Since starting my online-ness over a quarter of a century ago I have made well over 30 websites. If you want to see a few of them, I’ve added the ones I remember onto www.cjanderson.org. They have all had varying degrees of success with some failing within the first few months, to some that have lasted well over two decades and are still going strong.

But one of the things I don’t like about the internet is the way search engines gather data about websites. Here on Giggl I’ve had a lot of fun emailing scammers over the years, and I’ve put quite a few of the chats online. The posts have been quite popular, because people do like it when a scammers time is being wasted. But it does mean that my popular posts find their way onto search engines, so currently if you search for Giggl on Google, the top result is a snippet of a chat I had with a scammer :

Just to be clear, this isn’t MY bio. This is a section from one of the scam emails I replied to. Unfortunately, because this is the bit that made it onto the Search Engine results, this makes me look like I’m based in India, designing websites with a team of 40 staff, when the reality is I’m a bloke in Bolton who doesn’t offer web design services, but just happens to have a small but persistent blog.

This is the reason for the recent rebrand and a few more posts appearing over the last few days. I’ve changed the layout, the logo, the tagline, added a few more posts, clicked a few things behind the scenes and thought about stuff quite a lot. Hopefully all this helps refresh the search engines but, if not, does anyone want one of my team of 40 to make a website for you?
