Black Friday Bargain

Readly is a brilliant monthly service that costs £7.99 per month. If you subscribe you can access hundreds of magazines via your phone or tablet. When I signed up the offer was “Two months for the price of one”, which I was happy to take advantage of.

A few months later, during “Black Friday Week”, I got this email…

Time is running out to get Readly for just £1!

Don’t forget – up until midnight tonight you can still grab your first month of Readly for just £1 – saving you a massive 87.5%!

This means that for just £1 you can get unlimited access to more than 1,800 magazines on as many as 5 different devices for a whole month – you can even access all your favourite magazines both online and offline.

But you’ll need to be quick – this amazing offer is about to disappear…(at midnight tonight to be exact).

Don’t miss out – claim your special £1 offer now.

P.S. If you need help, please send us an email.

Note : People on email shouldn’t need to use P.S.
P.S. was for when people used to hand write letters in pen, and it stands for Post Script. You would use at the end of a letter if you had remembered something additional after writing the entire letter out. At the bottom of the letter you would write P.S., and then whatever you had forgotten. If you’re writing an email and you realised at the end that you forgot something, just scroll back up a bit and add it in to the main text.

Hi Readly,

I’ve noticed that your Black Friday “offer” makes your service more expensive and wanted to check my maths was right.

Your usual sign-up offer is “Two months for the price of one,” but your Black Friday offer is “£1 for your first month,” which then presumably returns to £7.99 per month after this?

So WITHOUT the Black Friday offer, my first 2 months would total £7.99
WITH the Black Friday offer, my first 2 months would total £8.99.

Am I wrong, or does it cost more during Black Friday?

Craig.

Hi Craig,

From what I can see, your math is correct.

One offer is 2 months for the price of 1 and the other gives you your first month for £1.

It s entirely up to the customer which offer they prefer to take.

Best regards,
Andrew

Thanks for the reply Andrew.

Anyway, Black Friday is now over so let’s hope no-one fell for your cheeky maths, eh?

I have just received a Cyber Monday promo email which has raised a different question.

According to the promotional email I received, today’s offer is “Buy a 6 month Readly subscription or a 12 month subscription and get a free month.”

The free month is great for 6 month subscribers, but why don’t the people who chose to pay double and get 12 months receive two free months?

Surely people will circumvent this bizarre option and just purchase 2 lots of 6 months? It costs the same as a 12 month one, but you get double free stuff!

What’s all that about? Have you though these offers through?

Craig

Thanks Andy,

Will you let me know what they say? I’m sure you will – you seem quite nice.

Thanks,

Craig Anderson.
